Whiteline woodcut, open edition
Paper size: 9x9

One spring morning while walking up the stairs to my third floor studio, I glanced out the hallway window. The scene beyond stopped me in my tracks: a beautiful pattern was being formed on the front lawn by the still-bare-trees in the woods. I loved how the tree shadows broke the new grass into blocks of different colors, and how the branches coming off the shadows of the trunks looked like roots. I took some photographs and ran up the remaining flight of stairs to grab a sketch book. I followed up that sketch with a color gouache study and ultimately this white-line woodcut.
This is a white-line woodcut. Each color is brushed on the block by hand, then burnished onto the paper one at a time. While the nature of white-line printing means that the coloration of each print will be unique, some attempt is made to keep them as uniform as possible. Each print is numbered and signed by the artist, and packaged in a clear plastic acid-free envelope.
