The woods near my home are dotted with houses, many of which designate their property lines with the iconic New England stone wall. When you live here, it doesn’t take long to discover the origins of this practice -- rocks, stones, and boulders are everywhere and the only logical thing to do with them is to haul them to the corners of your property and stack them up. Before you know it, you have a wall. It doesn’t keep the forest from encroaching (it will), or the forest animals out (they do as they please), or the neighbors at bay (this is New England -- they pretty much keep to themselves anyway), but it does look pretty cool, and in my case, it makes for a good print.

This is a three-color reduction print. Each color of the image was carved in reverse from a single piece of baltic birch plywood, then inked and printed using hand pressure and a baren. Once the first layer of color was printed, the block was carved and printed again. This was repeated 3 times, “reducing” the block each time until the final color was printed and the resulting image emerged. Each print is numbered and signed by the artist. There may be slight variations between prints because of the nature of the hand-printing process.  Each unframed print is packaged in a clear plastic acid-free envelope.
